Other then going to Indiana to visit family and friends we have not taken a vacation yet. After this past weekend I can no longer say that. Jeremy had a four day weekend so we took advantage and went down to the Outer Banks in Nags Head, NC. If you have never been there it is a must. The beach was awesome, the area is awesome, the food was awesome........needless to say we had a great time and loved every minute. We left Thursday afternoon and got off schedule due to horrific traffic trying to go through the Hampton Roads Tunnel. We sat in this for about an hour. After finally getting to the hotel we were wiped.
While on this vacation we saw dolphins jumping in the ocean, a big black bear on our nature trip, a blue crab washed up on the beach by our hotel and a horseshoe crab (dead) on a beach we found. All in all this was the best trip nature wise I have EVER been on. We can not wait to go back and already planning our next trip down there.
Some of the things we did while we were there were:
NC Aquarium
(side note: Their A/C was broke and yet they still charged us full price. It was like a sauna but Ben did not care.)
Wildlife Refuge Area
(side note: There were unpaved roads where you could see all kinds of wild life.)
Restaurants
(side note: Best bbq was at Bubba's and best seafood was at Sugar Creek.)
Lighthouses
(side note: We did not climb them but were interesting to see.)

Samantha’s Outer Banks Story--
Instead of sea kayaking a reasonable distance past the waves, Samantha decided to see the dolphins up close. She kayaked to were you could not see her on the horizon. The winds were picking up and the day was into dusk. Long story short.. I dialed 911! By this time her Uncle Derek went to rescue her. On their way back to land, the rescue team arrived and dashed into the ocean on jet skis. Samantha was never scared, and had the time of her life while giving her mother a heart attack. She was not worried at all because she could see land and vehicles. Her Uncle Derek reported it was a bit frightening that far out at sea in a kayak. Her adventure of a lifetime was one of the worst two hours of my life. So, Ben seems to have more sense than his 17 year old cousin..ha.ha. Andrea
